I have a Nikon D80. Occasionally, when I turn the camera on, take Lens Cap off, the f stop does not register.
As a result when you push down the button to take a picture, nothing happens. Sometimes when I let the camera sit for a few days and try again it works. However, recently that is not the case. The battery is fully charged. Has anyone else had a similar problem and if so how did you resolve it?
Yep sounds familiar. I don´t know what caused it (our D80 was stolen before I took time to look at it) but here´s the quick fix
* turn the camera off
* push the button to release the lens
* turn it an inch
* click the lens back into the locked position
done.
It was/ is probably dirty contact points for the electronic connection between the lens and the body.
