Can I use manual focus on the full auto mode?
I have a Canon film EOS 300 and have just taken my first photo. I took it on the macro (close-up?) mode, and was on autofocus, but when I took the photo it focused on completely the wrong subject and so it blurred horribly! What I want to know is, can I use manual focus on any of the modes? Or will it mess up the camera? The manual didn't really say much about using manual focus on the easier modes.
Yes, you can use manual focus, so you need not worry about your camera throwing a fit! Auto mode on the Camera Body is independent from autofocus. The auto mode on the camera body controls pretty much every other aspect of the photo-taking process: ISO, shutter speed, aperture, flash, and white balance.
edit: Ack! I missed the part where you said you're using a Film Camera. My comment is from digital experience. Either way, I think what I said still applies, and even if it doesn't work for you, I don't think attempting to switch to manual focus will damage your camera.
