how can i take digital copy my Digital Camera?
I have an album of prints of high quality photos. how can i take digital copy with my digital camera? I tried with various settings but of no avail is there any proven technique other than scanning? Kindly let me know.
You can take good photos of the photos, but you do have to have some good general knowledge in photography and in how to properly use your camera.
You must have an even light source on the photos at angles. No overhead lighting.
Your camera must be mounted on a tripod. You must adjust the camera position so it is level and plumb with the photo. Any tilting or cocking of the camera will cause distortion in your taken photo.
Turn the flash OFF.
You must set the white balance in the camera to match the light you are using on the photos, which is probably going to be the tungsten setting. If using film, you will need the proper fiter on the lens, usually a 81B.
Be sure the ISO of the camera does not exceed 100.
Use the Self Timer or a remote Cable Release on the camera to fire the shutter. Otherwise you will have blur due to camera movement.
If you are using an SLR, you may also need to use the mirror lock up function to prevent any blur due to mirror slap at slow shutter speeds.
If your camera is very close to the photos, you may need to use the Macro mode on a point and shoot, or if using an SLR, you may need a Macro Lens or at least some close up filter adapters.
I have done lots of this type of work copying art pieces and documents. If this sounds like something you can't do or don't understand, then yes, you will be better off to use a scanner.
