Looking Into the Combination of GPS Systems and Weather Satellites
We know that weather satellites are used to track the changes in the earth’s atmosphere. The information that is taken from weather satellites can be used by scientists and other professional who require this data. Currently to help the Meteorology department access more information and predict certain weather patterns there are specialized satellites that have been made.
These new weather satellites have specialized gps receivers that can detect various atmospheric conditions. These conditions like electron density, air density, moisture amounts and temperature for various regions can be collected daily. This accurate amassing of weather information helps weather scientists to predict the weather we will be experiencing.
These gps system enabled weather satellites were designed by and launched into orbit in April 2006. These six micro gps weather satellites are called the Constellation of Observing System Meteorology Ionosphere and Climate. The shortened form is known as COSMIC. Due to this collection of weather satellites and the technology of the global positioning satellites the various changes that are seen in the weather can be gathered quickly.
Based on these observations and the data that is provided the various weather departments can inform the general public about the type of weather that they can expect to see in their locality. The predictions that are made from the gps data allows the forecasting of the weather for about a week to be made with some accuracy.
Technology is always advancing. The ways that we use the technology can help to enhance the quality of our lives. One of the more important ways that technology can help is by predicting the weather.
To this end the gps systems that are in place have their roles to play. The combination of these gps systems and the weather satellites allow us the chance to enjoy the great sunny weather when we are given this great news. Without these weather satellites we would need to guess what type of weather we will have to face throughout the day.
